Founded in 1834 by German silversmith Philipp Wolf I, the company began by crafting exquisite silver pieces. Philipp noticed his silver sold better when presented in beautifully designed boxes, which led him to shift focus toward creating sophisticated jewelry cases that not only looked elegant but also protected precious treasures. This marked the start of the Wolf family legacy in fine presentation craftsmanship.
Philipp Wolf II learned the craft from his father and later moved to Malmö, where he opened his own workshop and gained a strong reputation. His sons, Ernst and Philipp III, continued the family’s box‑making tradition. As the third generation, Philipp Wolf III expanded the Swedish factory and introduced Wolf boxes to the American market after WWII, making long trips across the ocean to build the brand. Though progress was gradual, his dedication helped lay the foundation for future global success. Philip Wolf IV, one of Philipp III’s three sons, moved to England to establish a new factory, creating a highly automated factory that grew into the largest manufacturer of jewelry boxes and displays in the UK and much of Europe.
With the business thriving in England, Simon Philip Wolf V, guided by his father, led the company into the US and Canadian markets, leading the brand to remarkable success and establishing WOLF as a global leader. Today, the Wolf family business continues to honor its rich heritage while embracing innovation. Beyond jewelry boxes, the company now offers a diverse range of fine gift items, including patented technology and innovative designs for jewelry cases and watch winders. This blend of tradition and forward-thinking has made WOLF the market leader it is today.
