Bea Bongiasca’s inspiration stems from her deep passion for pop culture, contemporary art and design, conflated with her love for everything colourful. Hers is a spirited and non-traditional take on jewellery which does not compromise on quality but remains accessible to people of her own age. The classic gold of her jewellery is often joyfully submerged with bright enamel colours that are not commonplace in fine jewellery. The unexpected evolution lends her jewellery kinetic movement and a bold look. Bea’s focus is on jewellery as an art form, a concept that is pivotal to her design process. Each piece – at once playful and intricate – functions as a miniature fantasy world for the wearers to immerse themselves in and evade reality, even if just for a minute!
In 2013, she graduated with honours in Jewellery Design BA at Central Saint Martins in London. It was that same year that she founded her own brand and studio in Milan. She presented her first collection, ‘No Rice, No Life’ at 10 Corso Como during Milan Fashion Week in September 2014. In December 2014, Bea had a solo show with contemporary jewellery gallery, Galleria Antonella Villanova, in the Design section of Art Basel: Miami Beach. The gallery also exhibited her work in the 2015 edition of MiArt and Design Basel in June 2015. In July 2015, she presented the ‘Endless?’ capsule collection in collaboration with Toiletpaper Magazine.
Then in November 2015, Bea Bongiasca won the first ever Jewellery Prize of the ‘Premio Giovani Imprese - Believing in the Future’ under the aegis of The Fondazione Altagamma in partnership with L’Uomo Vogue, Borsa Italiana and Maserati. The prize aimed to promote Italy’s most promising, upcoming creative talents. In January 2017, Bea was listed in the Arts & Dorm Room Founders categories in Forbes’ second annual “30 Under 30 Europe Class of 2017”. In 2019, Bea opened her flagship store at 25 Via Solferino in Milan. The space, created by Locatelli Partners, perfectly represents the brands key attributes: a colourful, pop, kawaii boutique. In 2020, Bea was selected by De Beers as one of the ten of the most distinctive jewellery designers working today to re-envision the engagement ring through a capsule collection handcrafted with natural diamonds ethically and sustainably sourced from Botswana.
Among the fans of Bea Bongiasca are numerous celebrities such as Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Bella Hadid, Zara Larsson, Leandra Medine, Eva Chen, Julia Roberts and Tessa Thompson. Every Bea Bongiasca collection is handmade in Italy using 9kt gold, silver, semi and precious stones.
